Chapter Fourteen
Prayer Evangelism
Prayer Evangelism is the most important part of the witness
in the streets and door to door evangelism. It is so important
to have intercessors pray for you and your teams as they are in
the streets. Oftentimes, we have intercessors at the church on
their face before God as we are in the streets. When evangelism
and prayer are mixed we see a greater harvest of souls. God is
moved by prayer and it is the key to evangelizing neighborhoods.
We need to begin our invasion in our cities with prayer for laborers.
Matthew 9
37 Then saith
he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous,
but the labourers are few;
38 Pray ye therefore the
Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his
harvest.
The church needs to become serious about taking our cities back.
We have tried to change our communities by legislation. While
these things are important, the church must realize that we are
to operate at a higher dimension and that is in spiritual warfare.
Ephesians 6
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness
of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Church denominations may differ as to when Christ will return
to this earth and on many other things. Let's all work together
and agree on things we have in common and that is Christ has come.
He came to this world to redeem mankind and He paid the price
for all souls.
Hebrews 9
12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his
own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained
eternal redemption for us.
II Corinthians 5
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin;
that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
John 3
16 For God so loved the world, that
he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.
We can see that the price for all the souls on this earth has
been paid for by Christ. Yet there is a war over these souls that
is continually waged. The war that is being waged for cities is
on a spiritual level. The spiritual battleground is not only thousands
of miles away in a mission field but also in your city. Foreign
missions are important but let's remember to have home missions
to work in the cities where we live. Your city and those that
live there are under some control of satan. We see the effect
that the enemy has on our cities everyday.
The enemy we war with was defeated over 2,000 years ago. We use
the authority given to us in the name of Jesus Christ. Christ
has authority over all principalities and power and rulers. It
is through the power of prayer that this spiritual battle can
be won.
Let's pray for souls and laborers and see this war won for God.
When we are in the streets we need to be able to speak to the
hearts of people and not to a mind controlled by satan and the
effects he brings on this world with alcohol and drugs. We need
divine appointments given to us by the Holy Spirit. Oftentimes,
the battleground for souls is in the mind. The prayers of intercessors
will move the hand of God on behalf of those we witness to and
bind the enemy from operating in the minds and emotions of those
we speak to. Many times we have seen the hand of God in a situation.
We often are amazed at the power of God as He seems to take charge
of situations. We have seen His protection demonstrated in the
streets. We are excited when we go to the streets in expectation
of what God will do next.
Prayer evangelism is the only way we will see our cities won
for Christ. Although prayer intercessors may not be knocking on
doors or witnessing in the streets, their prayers are felt and
the results are seen. It is important that intercessions be consistent
and constant when you are in the streets. The souls of others
depend upon their prayers.
Jesus Christ is the Lord of the Harvest and the Holy Spirit brings
conviction to the souls we speak to. We ask the Lord of the Harvest
to go before us and prepare the way. We often see many come to
the Lord at the same time. It is so beautiful to see Him change
a heart. Remember to pray for those that have been won to Christ
that He would keep them and that the enemy would be bound from
operating in their lives.
Let God show you your city and His love for all within your city.
Pray that He will show you His heart for the lost and hurting.
It is God's desire to allow you to experience His compassion and
mercy for others. We need to look past our needs and see the needs
of others. God looked past all of our sins and all of our faults
and reached down and saved our souls.
Ephesians 2
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith
he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us
together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
John 13
35 By this shall all men know ye
are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
In the Word, God has asked us many times to show love toward
one another. While it is important to show love to one another,
I would suggest how wonderful it is to actually receive His love
into your life in such a way that you would be driven to share
His love with others. His love will cause you to have a heart
for the lost and for the impoverished. His love will move you
to pray for those you have never met. Allow God to share part
of His heart with you and join in prayer for those that are hurting.
Those that are lost cannot pull themselves out of their circumstances
and God desires other Christians to be in prayer agreement for
His will in their lives. God is moved by prayer. Let's accept
the challenge to step into another dimension of our prayer life
and allow God to place more of His nature in us. He is looking
for vessels to pour Himself into.
